Sometimes you find a great recipe on the internet that makes you want to try it right away. One of those recipes is this one. Who would have thought that just a few simple ingredients could make such a great dish? We can’t wait to tell you, so let’s get right to it…
Fingerlicking onion rings
These are the ingredients you will need for these amazing onion rings:
- 1 large onion, cut into 1/4-inch slices
- 1 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg
- 1 cup milk, or as needed
- ¾ cup dry bread crumbs
- seasoned salt to taste
- 1 quart oil for frying, or as needed
The oil in a deep fryer should be heated to 365 degrees F. (185 degrees C).
Slice the onion into rings and set them aside. Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt in a small bowl.
Dip the onion slices into the flour mixture until they are all coated. Set them aside. Using a fork, mix the egg and milk into the flour mixture. Dip the floured rings into the batter to coat them, then place them on a wire rack to drain until the batter stops dripping. For easier cleanup, you can put a sheet of aluminium foil on top of the wire rack.
Spread the bread crumbs out on a plate or other shallow dish. Put the rings into the crumbs one at a time, and then scoop the crumbs over the ring to coat it. Tap it hard as you pull it out of the crumbs. The coating should stick well to the surface. Do the same with the other rings.
Fry the rings in oil for 2 to 3 minutes at a time, a few at a time, until they are golden brown. Take out and put on paper towels to dry. Add seasoning salt, and then serve.
